Subbed off at HT once again

Nasrullayev generated one shot (one on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Tuesday's 5-0 loss to Portugal.

Analysis: For the second game in a row, Nasrullayev was subbed off during the HT break, but at least he was one of the two Uzbek players who had a shot on target in this blowout loss. The lack of reliable playing time and his limited involvement going forward considerably limit his upside. That might not change much against DR Congo on Saturday, a game in which Uzbekistan are bound to look like underdogs once again.

Subbed at halftime in loss

Nasrullayev generated one clearance in Wednesday's 3-1 defeat against Colombia.

Analysis: Nasrullayev struggled to impose himself from the left wingback position in Wednesday's 1-3 defeat to Colombia, replaced at halftime by Farrukh Sayfiev as Fabio Cannavaro made two simultaneous changes designed to give his side more width and directness in the second period. The wingback was unable to contain Daniel Munoz's runs from the right side of Colombia's backline in the first half, contributing to the defensive breakdown that led to the acrobatic opener, and his inability to provide accurate delivery from wide areas limited Uzbekistan's attacking options in the opening 45 minutes. His pace and ability to stretch opposition defensive lines from the left side remain assets that Uzbekistan will want to harness more effectively, and a stronger performance in the next group fixture will be needed if his side are to avoid edging closer to an early elimination.
